Annual Board Retreat Kicks-off New Year

This past Saturday, the AMA Houston Board met at the Inn at the Ballpark in Downtown Houston for our annual board retreat. It was my first time there, and I have to say that I wasn’t expecting it to be so nice. The lobby and meeting areas were comfortable and the food was really good. We greatly appreciate their generous sponsorship, and couldn’t have asked for a better retreat location.

The Board Retreat is essentially an all day planning session to help kick-off the new board year. We welcome the new board members, learn about the status of our initiatives and discuss our action items. Granted, devoting a whole Saturday is a big time commitment, but it’s worth it! Our board is very passionate and dedicated toward the Houston marketing community, and honestly, we do have fun in the process too.

If you’re curious about what goes on “behind the curtain,” just take a look at our photo gallery from that day. I can tell you that there’s a lot of exciting events planned for the upcoming year, and you’ll want to be part of the action. We’re always looking for great volunteers, so get in touch with Jo-Anne White if you’d like to get involved.

Houston Chapter Now #2 in Nation

The Houston chapter of AMA rallied members to surpass New York with the second largest membership in the nation last week. At 939 members and counting, AMA Houston’s membership increased 16%. Colin Hageney (former AMA Houston chapter president) said 5 years ago that we would be at 1,000 members, proving that “The Power of Intention” really does work! We’re on our way there, so send us your suggestions on where might be a great location to celebrate.

We couldn’t have done it without everyone’s help. Thanks to all, as well as our membership campaign sponsors KBR, C2 Media and Houston Business Journal.
