Blinds.com Named 2009 Marketer of the Year

BLINDS.COM NAMED 2009 MARKETER OF THE YEAR BY THE AMERICAN MARKETING ASSOCIATION

Company’s ambitious strategy increased customers and profits in midst of depressed housing and home improvement market

HOUSTON, TX (March 18, 2010)    The American Marketing Association Houston Chapter named Blinds.com the 2009 Marketer of the Year on Monday night during the AMA’s annual event, which drew more than 350 business leaders from a wide range of industries.  Blinds.com won the prestigious award due to its innovative 2009 marketing strategy which resulted in the company significantly increasing its number of customers and profits in the face of a depressed housing and home improvement market.

As part of the ceremony, Houston mayor Annise Parker commended the marketing profession for its vital role in the economic health of the Houston-area during a video address to attendees. In addition, Kenneth Price, Director of Marketing, Sales Strategy and Operations at Boeing Airlines, shared insights into how Boeing changed its marketing approach for its new 787 ‘Dreamliner’ passenger plane to overcome foreign competition.  As a result, Price and the Boeing marketing team helped re-establish Boeing as the world leader in commercial aircraft sales.

The Marketer of the Year award recognizes and honors exceptional overall marketing efforts by Houston-area companies, organizations and institutions.  This year, AMA named 40 companies as Best in Category winners through a process of member voting and scoring by a local judging panel of marketing professionals.  Best of Category winners then submitted detailed information regarding their marketing challenges and results.  This information was reviewed by a specially selected group of leading marketing professionals outside of Houston who selected Blinds.com as Houston’s 2009 Marketer of the Year.
