How much does a membership cost?
The first year of professional membership is $280, renewing professional memberships are $250, bridge memberships for recent graduates who were members of an AMA collegiate chapter during their senior year are $130, collegiate memberships for full time students are $42, educator memberships for marketing professors are $210, doctoral candidate memberships are $115.

How do I join?
You may join online at www.amahouston.org at the “become a member” link or by calling national AMA at 800.AMA.1150.

Can I join only the local chapter?
No. You must be a member of the national organization in order to become a member of the local chapter.

Does AMA offer group memberships?
Please email groupmemberships@amahouston.org to discuss a group membership package.

Can I transfer my membership to a colleague?
No. AMA memberships are held by an individual and are non-transferable.

Can I transfer my AMA membership from one local chapter to another?
Yes. Contact AMA Customer Service at 1-800-262-1150 and tell them the chapter to which you are transferring.

Can I get a copy of the membership directory?
Yes. All members receive the membership directory when they join.

How do I change my badge or membership contact information?
Changes to your contact information (e.g. company, title, address, e-mail address, etc.) can be made in three ways.
1. Log onto the AMA national website www.marketingpower.com to make changes on-line.
2. Send an email noting your changes to info@ama.org, including your first and last name, as well as the local chapter to which you belong.
3. Contact AMA customer service at 800.262.1150.

Are the national Special Interest Groups (SIGs) the same as the local SIGs?
No. On the application form you have the opportunity to sign up for one complimentary SIG which functions as a list serve and is sponsored through the national organization.  AMA Houston’s SIGs provide specialized programming that address the needs of marketers working in key local area industries.

Does the Houston chapter have a job bank?
Yes. Our job referral newsletter lists open positions in the Houston area. Companies may post open positions for a small fee. Anyone can sign up to receive the newsletter at robert.melvin@redhotmessage.com.

How can I learn about upcoming events?
Our primary mode of communication is through email. Sign up to receive emails about upcoming events at our website: www.amahouston.net.

Why am I not receiving emails?
To receive our emails put info@amahouston.org into your address book, so that is it in your “safe sender” list.  Many companies block html messages from coming through a firewall. If your IT department is blocking our emails, ask them to allow in emails from “exacttarget.com” (IP 207.67.38.57).

How can I get involved?
There are many opportunities to get involved in the Houston Chapter. Visit our volunteer page. To volunteer you must be an AMA member.

Why is my name not on your membership roster?
If you are a new member, or have recently submitted contact information changes, we maybe waiting to  receive your information from nationals.  Recently expired memberships are removed from the roster.
