Houston bestowed honor fifth time in seven years.
HOUSTON – (Business Wire) The American Marketing Association’s Houston Chapter announced today it received the highest professional AMA chapters award when it was recently named the 2009-10 Chapter of the Year. This annual award recognizes outstanding excellence among the American Marketing Association’s 76 chapters across the U.S. and Canada. This is the third consecutive year that Houston has received this honor and the fifth time in the last seven years.
“Houston’s recognition as Chapter of the Year over the last few years clearly reflects the high standard that the chapter has set for itself, resulting in exceptional year-to-year performance,” commented Dennis Dunlap, CEO of the American Marketing Association. “The AMA Houston chapter has strong leadership, robust programming and is a model of membership growth and retention. The Chapter’s strengths in so many areas are certainly deserving of this special honor.”
During 2009-2010, Houston beat its previous records for member satisfaction, grew to the largest chapter in the US and Canada, increased its volunteer count to the highest number in chapter history, grew revenue, profit and sponsorship donations to record numbers and held more programs than in any previous year. The chapter also demonstrated innovation in the use of mobile and social media communications, grew its charitable giving arm to provide funding for marketing efforts of other non-profits and held the most successful Marketer of the Year and Crystal Awards programs in chapter history.
“As one of the AMA’s strongest chapters, we feel great responsibility to our members and the marketing community as a whole,” said Chapter-of-the-Year president, Maggie Seeliger. “It is our job to provide excellent programming and networking opportunities for our members and guests to elevate the prestige and credibility of the marketing profession in our area. Winning Chapter of the Year not only gives AMA credibility as the leading marketing association in Houston, but it positions our city as an important center of marketing excellence and business progress.”
“With over 40 dedicated board members and more than 200 volunteers, we have been able to reach incredible goals,” said MaryJane Mudd, the chapter’s current president. “We are committed to increasing our value to the region’s marketing community even more this year, and I know all of our dedicated volunteers will help us make that possible.”
